Revision Tips To Be Successful in VCE Chemistry - Learnmate Blog

There is with a doubt a lot to learn in the new VCE Chemistry course, and some of you may find it difficult to retain all that knowledge.

So how can you ensure that you can achieve your best in Chemistry?

Consistent revision throughout the year is what is needed!

When you sit in a classroom listening to your teacher go over a particular topic, more often than not you will understand what is going on. However, in most cases, if you do not make the effort to revise over what you have just learnt, then you will forget it come exam time in November. That is not something that you want to happen!

A good habit to get into is to revise over the material you have learnt throughout the year so that it can remain fresh in your memory.

Revision is more than just going over your notes, but it’s about reading over your notes and understanding the concepts. It is also about applying those concepts to practice questions, which will allow you to see for yourself whether or not you have understood what you have just read.

Revision should not get in the way of your preparation for an upcoming SAC; in fact, if you constantly revise over your work you can save time in preparing for a SAC, as you will have more time to spend on more difficult topics that may be covered in the SAC.

If you adopt a consistent revision strategy, when it comes to exam time, you can spend more time tackling practice exams, rather than trying to recall what you learnt in class Term 1 Week 1, and trying to re-learn certain topics. Chemistry is a subject where rote-learning and regurgitating answers to questions will not get you high marks.

So aim to get some revision done on a regular basis as it will not only benefit you in the short run but also, in the long run, come exam time.

Happy studying ☺
