Tutors must meet minimum criteria to be listed as a tutor on Learnmate. These criteria include that a tutor must either have achieved an ATAR of 85 or higher in school, be a registered teacher or, based on our assessment, has a relevant experience, background or qualification that is equivalent to or exceeds the latter two hurdles (i.e. this could be a high performer at an international school, someone who holds a Doctorate in Mathematics, someone with a professional tutoring background or someone who is native in and has taught Spanish for a long time).
Tutors are also screened to ensure they have a current Working with Children Check and must complete comprehensive training prior to commencing work with students. Click here to read more about our selection process.
Tutors will only be listed on Learnmate if they have satisfied these requirements.

Most of our tutors now offer tutoring online (via our online learning platform), whether for long-distance and remote students who can’t find a local tutor or those who prefer to learn online. You can learn more about online tutoring on Learnmate here.
When a customer searches for in-person tutoring, tutors will appear based on how well they match a customer’s specific requirements, i.e. State, curriculum, mode of tutoring (group vs 1:1), pricing, qualified teacher status, special needs requirements, subject(s) and suburb. Search results are random and the prioritisation or positioning of any tutor in search results is not, and should not be taken to be, a recommendation by Learnmate.
As tutors are required to publish a profile about themselves, their relevant experience, WWCC accreditation, academic track record and/or teaching qualifications, customers are provided with complete visibility and all the information needed to choose the right tutor. By providing this level of detail, our customers experience a high degree of success pairing with suitable tutors. The great reviews our tutors continue to receive speak to the success of our approach.

We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to better themselves through education, regardless of where they live or their abilities. Our mission is simple: to connect people looking to learn and improve themselves, with tutors and teachers wanting to share their knowledge to help students to realise their potential.
Learnmate enables you to learn your way. Whether you’re looking to get ahead or working towards a specific study score or ATAR, Learnmate connects you to tutors who can tailor where and how they teach based on your needs.
With an ever growing platform of tutors, there are countless options for you to choose from, whether that choice is based on academic track record, experience or your budget. With over 1,000 tutors listed on Learnmate who each set their own rate, you will find a tutor that meets your budget and for the number of sessions you need. You will never be signed into a set syllabus, which means every dollar goes towards helping you achieve your specific goals.
As your ‘Learnmate’, our tutors want to see you become your best self, like they would any of their mates. Our tutors encourage independence and continuous academic improvement so that students can approach and complete their assessments with confidence. We believe it’s important that the student and tutor have a good social rapport and tutoring is not solely focused on study; this is what fosters a comfortable learning environment in which the student feels safe and supported and can ask the tutor questions without hesitation.
Our tutors are vetted and trained through our comprehensive online training course, ensuring we create and maintain a community of quality, reliable and trustworthy tutors. You can learn more about this process here.
