Students who successfully complete senior secondary school in Victoria will receive the Victorian Certificate of Education, or VCE.

Most VCE subjects consist of four units studied over Years 11 and 12, with each unit covering one semester. To be awarded the VCE, a student must receive a ‘satisfactory’ result in all 4 units of an English subject, along with 3 additional Unit 3/4 subjects.

Fun fact: You wouldn’t know it now, what with Melbourne’s vibrant nightlife, but until 1966 it was illegal for Melbourne’s pubs to be open after 6pm.
