Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find a tutor?

Search for a tutor(s) by inputting your requirements in Learnmate’s search engine. This includes school level, curriculum and the subjects you’re looking for a tutor in.

Once you’ve found a tutor(s), click ‘Contact Tutor’ and follow the prompts to either contact them immediately or save them to contact later (i.e. if you want to continue searching for other tutors to contact).

To get in contact with your preferred tutor(s), simply register for a free account on Learnmate and you’ll receive access to their details. You can then speak to your preferred tutor(s) about your tutoring needs, their style of tutoring, availability and locations and, all going well, schedule your lesson.

For a limited time, Learnmate is offering all new students a free $20 credit to use in their first or second lesson on Learnmate!

What do tutors need to do to be listed on Learnmate?

Learnmate tutors must meet certain qualification requirements to be listed, including having achieved a minimum ATAR of 85, having obtained a relevant teaching qualification or have equivalent experience tutoring or in a relevant field. Tutors must have a current Working with Children Check and are provided with a comprehensive training program to complete to be best prepared to tutor through Learnmate.

What makes Learnmate different?

We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to better themselves through education, regardless of where they live or their abilities. Our mission is simple: to connect people looking to learn and improve themselves, with tutors and teachers wanting to share their knowledge to help students to realise their potential.

Learnmate enables you to learn your way. Whether you’re looking to get ahead or working towards a specific study score or ATAR, Learnmate connects you to tutors who can tailor where and how they teach based on your needs.

With an ever-growing platform of tutors, there are countless options for you to choose from, whether that choice is based on academic track record, qualification, experience or your budget. With over 1,000 tutors listed on Learnmate who each set their own rate, you will find a tutor that meets your budget and for the number of sessions you need. You will never be signed into a set syllabus, which means every dollar goes towards helping you achieve your specific goals.

As your ‘Learnmate’, our tutors want to see you become your best self, like they would any of their mates. Our tutors encourage independence and continuous academic improvement so that students can approach and complete their assessments with confidence. We believe it’s important that the student and tutor have a good social rapport and tutoring is not solely focused on study; this is what fosters a comfortable learning environment in which the student feels safe and supported and can ask the tutor questions without hesitation.

Our tutors are vetted and trained through our comprehensive online training course, ensuring we create and maintain a community of quality, reliable and trustworthy tutors. You can learn more about this process here.
