FAQ – STUDENTS

Our mission is simple: to provide professional, engaging and enthusiastic high school, HSC, SACE, QCE, WACE & VCE tutors to students, while also ensuring the student feels empowered and confident during their assessments! Our tutors are all about inciting a greater level of inquisitiveness and independence in the student to ensure they can complete their own assessments independently. Ultimately, our goal is to empower students all over Australia to achieve amazing results and make their dreams come true!

In addition, all of our tutors are matched with students not only on study score but also on interests and suitability. We believe it’s important that the student and tutor have a good social rapport, as this is what fosters a comfortable environment in which the student can ask the tutor questions. Our tutors are also trained via our comprehensive online tutor training course, provided to all new tutors upon induction.

All LearnMate tutors are also trained and verified for your benefit. Click here to learn more about this process.

Our tutors are about getting great results. Getting results for the student is directly related to the tutor’s content knowledge (their study score), their ability to communicate effectively, and their ability to build a relationship with the student founded on trust and interests. Being a great tutor is not only about the study score, but how well the tutor interacts and engages with the student.

Tutoring presents many benefits and advantages to both students and parents. We have found that students request tutoring because of two possible reasons:

  • They are struggling in class and can’t keep up with the work and/or teacher.
  • They are already getting very good results in class, but want to attain a competitive edge.

Our tutors attend the lessons with the intent of encouraging the student to think for themselves and to feel confident during their assessments. During your first lesson, the tutor will aim to get to know you, including your personality, your learning style, your interests and aspirations. They will then tailor their lessons according to your requirements. If you are unsure about what your requirements are, then make sure you advise the tutor and he/she will aim to work this out for you.

Ultimately, the lessons will be conducted with your end goal in sight, which is why it’s generally a good idea to have a study score or ATAR goal in mind before commencing lessons.

Great question! Generally tutors can meet students at a public library, school, Skype or at either the tutor or student’s house. To help with finding a public library, please find the complete list of public libraries in Victoria here. For NSW libraries, please go here. For SA libraries, please go here.

Paying a LearnMate tutor is incredibly easy!

Our customers choose automatic credit or debit card processing for the lessons with their tutor.

We will take care of the invoice payment by automatically charging the nominated debit/credit card 48 hours after the lesson is completed by your tutor. You will never be charged until after a lesson is completed – simply set and forget and we will take care of the payment. An email notification will be sent to you once payment has been charged on your card.

Your credit card will ONLY be charged if the tutor marks the lesson as ‘attended’ in our system, otherwise the card will not be charged, and you will not be invoiced, giving you assurance that charges will only occur if the lesson does in fact happen.

To activate this, simply click here to login into your online account – go to the ‘Billing’ tab at the top of the page, and click on ‘Credit Cards’. You’ll then be able to add a nominated credit card or debit card securely from there. If you need help, please contact us here.

We accept Visa, Master and AMEX. Payments are processed securely and safely through Stripe, one of the world’s trusted and most secure online payment processors.

What are the benefits for you?

  1. There’s no need to manually pay invoices saving you much needed time!
  2. You don’t have to worry about forgetting to pay your tutor every again!
