Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to have a look at my profile.
ABOUT ME & QUALIFICATIONS
My name is Nicholas Lamens and I’m a 19 year old first year university student. I completed my HSC at Cranbrook School, Sydney, and achieved an ATAR of 97.65. I earned a band 6 in all but one of my subjects, and more specifically I achieved a 94/100 for 2 unit Mathematics, 48/50 for Extension Mathematics, 90/100 for Economics, 90/100 for Ancient History and 92/100 for Advanced English. I am keen to tutor in all of these areas and would love to help tutor you through a stressful but incredibly rewarding year.
I’m very aware that as a tutor, you need to be able to communicate your abilities and expertise to your student, as achieving good marks is simply not enough to help another individual succeed. I personally believe that I will bring a friendly, communicative and helpful personality to every session and do my absolute best to give you the right tools to succeed in your endeavours. My sessions will mostly be about content, and be directed by what your needs are specifically, but I will also hope to spend a little time each session talking about exam technique, organisation to reduce unnecessary stress and finding the crucial balance between working hard whilst also giving yourself a break.
I have also had past tutoring experience through supervising year 12 students study at my school in the study section of the ‘Cranbrook College,’ helping them with any queries they had before their upcoming exams.
Specifically, some of the main aspects of study I can help with are:
1 Essay structure
2 Exam technique
3 General content, such as concepts and ideas but also how to show you understand these most effectively
4 Exercises and questions
5 Techniques to study – such as memorisation methods
6 Basically anything you need, I will help!
AVAILABILITY, COSTS & LOCATION
My high marks are indicative of my dedication and diligence which will be applied to all sessions I conduct. I charge $47 per hour for each student, and $27 per hour for group sessions (usually I ask for a minimum of three students).
In terms of location, I’m currently studying in Melbourne and therefore will happily tutor anyone near the University of Melbourne campus. However, if you live more than 30 minutes by public transport, I will charge a travel fee of $10. I can also tutor at the University of Melbourne campus. However, over the upcoming break (mid-November to late February) I will be in Sydney and therefore I am happy to tutor anyone needing help over there. I have access to a car whilst in Sydney and therefore can travel to you depending on how close you are to me (I live in the Eastern Suburbs).
I hope to work with you and help you to achieve success because I can promise that despite the difficulties of the year and the stress it can bring, this is all manageable and well worth it when you come out on the other side!
