Hello! Thank you for visiting my profile!
About me & Qualifications
My name is Lachlan, and I’m a recent SACE graduate (2016). I achieved Dux at Immanuel College with the highest possible 99.95 ATAR and A+ merits in
- Mathematical Studies (19.8) [now known as Maths Methods]
- Physics (19.8)
- Chemistry (19.8)
- Research Project (9.7 out of 10)
as well as an A+ and perfect score (20.0) in Specialist Mathematics.
I am now studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and Bachelor of Computer & Mathematical Sciences double degree, and am offering to tutor in Maths methods, Specialist maths and Physics at SACE Stage 1 and 2 levels.
My successes in the maths and science subjects are indicative of my deep understanding of the course content, and my ability to clearly express and communicate these concepts in a variety of formats. My success in Research Project demonstrates that, in addition to mathematical and scientific content, I have a high level of English ability and can effectively edit and analyse written work.
As a tutor, I aim to transfer these skills to my students, as well as use them to ensure students have a sophisticated understanding of the content and are confident when it comes to assessments. Although it is possible to achieve a certain level of success in maths and physics by memorization and following steps, a comprehensive understanding and the ability to communicate it effectively are what set high achieving students apart. As somebody who has recently graduated, I am familiar with the requirements and methodologies of the SACE curricula and can provide students with specific techniques to achieve high results.
I can understand the high workload expected of year 11/12 students as I only recently experienced it myself, so I will provide students with fun and effective methods of study that they can carry with them throughout the rest of their education.
Location, Availability & Costs
I am currently available at various times throughout the week as well as on Saturdays, and I will do my best to fit into students’ schedules. I understand that students often have very little extra time throughout their week. Please see the times that I am available, and feel free to contact me with any questions.
I live in Underdale in the Western Suburbs and would prefer to tutor in a nearby public library space if convenient. Alternatively, there are times I am available to tutor at the State Library on North Terrace – please contact me to negotiate a time if you believe this would work better.
I charge $40 per hour, and am offering either 60 or 90 minute sessions. I also am offering one initial free 60-minute session to start to get to know the student and understand how I can best help them.
Please contact me if you have any questions whatsoever, and thank you again for visiting my profile!
