Hi I’m Kartik. I graduated from Haileybury College in 2017 with an ATAR of 99.50, and now am the school’s language ambassador. Last year, I had the opportunity to complete both French and Japanese units 3/4 (Yes I love scaling), attaining a raw score of 43 in both (French scaled above 50 yayyy).
Whilst I enjoyed the oohs and aahs that came with saying I studied two languages at school, the pressure to succeed was immense. But the passion I had for developing my cultural awareness through French and Japanese propelled me to strive for excellence. Last year I had the privilege of being the FIRST ever Haileybury student to achieve above raw 40 in both French and Japanese. In particular, I received 100/100 on my French oral exam and 99/100 on my Japanese oral exam. I would like to transfer these skills to students to not only develop their speaking ability, but also their self confidence, which I feel is equally important.
Rote learning grammar, neglecting the oral exam until the end, memorising essays for the exam, I’ve heard it all. Of course that may work for some, but it’s not the most effective way of preparing for these languages. Many students tell me that they prepare in this way because it’s too hard to study a language, or sometimes too bland and unappealing. My goal is to enliven these two subjects for you by giving you an enriching tutoring experience, through learning the language but also the culture and history. The way I intend on doing so is giving detailed feedback to students that is not only addressing only one aspect of the language, but also giving the student a holistic idea of what is needed to succeed in these languages.
I am familiar with the study design for both the French and Japanese oral and written components, and can provide you with not only constructive feedback, but also model answers for common questions that are asked in these exams to put you one step ahead of rest, giving you that extra edge that is needed to truly shine. My expertise is in the following fields related to VCE French and Japanese: Essays, oral exam, listening comprehension and reading comprehension. That’s the whole exam right there. That’s why believe I have the extensive knowledge of the curriculum that is required to propel your language scores beyond expectations. In addition to classes, you can contact me at anytime via email or phone, and I will be able to give you timely and detailed answers to any of your questions.
Finally, I want to make it clear that I hope you succeed in these subjects, and score higher than you can imagine, and I promise I will drive the enthusiasm levels through the roof to make sure you and I, both give our best effort towards your academic success.
I live in the Keysborough area and will also be tutoring at Monash university on Wednesdays. I am available for tutoring on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at anytime, and potentially on other weekdays if that’s more suitable for you. I’m only going to be charging $40 per hour, so if you want to smash our your languages and scale to the moon, then contact me ASAP and I can start helping you on your way to success.
All the best!!!
