Hello! Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. I have attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication (Public Relations and Journalism) at Griffith University, spent one year focusing on secondary English teaching with a 14-day placement in a high school, and have recently transferred to a Master of Arts (Writing) to delve into English literature further as it is my passion. I would love to pass this knowledge onto high school or university students who are working through English or communication based subjects, ensuring they comprehend all aspects of the curriculum. I aim to teach my students in an interactive, fun and exciting manner, while achieving desired results through using well thought out study plans and activities.
I am very passionate about English, and I believe this passion is evident when I teach my students. In addition to this, I have worked as a youth mentor for many years and care deeply about ensuring that I can help others, and I believe this is evident when I teach. I engage students by teaching the content with an energetic and positive approach, and I believe that as well as teaching the relevant content, it is important to understand individual students needs and apply lesson plans to meet them.
Anybody can simply teach content by reviewing a text book or reading pages and pages of information, but this approach can be disengaging and tiresome for students. I aim to change that by developing lesson plans that have multiple activities and strategies which I learned in my years of study, teaching the content with an exciting and positive approach and helping the student succeed and discover their passions in the subject through it.
Through my year of studying English Secondary Teaching, I have put into practice AITSL standards when forming lesson plans, and am aware of SACE Stage 1 and 2 expectations, content and learning requirements. Furthermore, my experience at a high school on a 14-day placement in June 2017 taught me how to apply curriculum expectations and AITSL standards in lessons for an entire class. I believe that I will be able to meet these requirements even further through tutoring, as it is a more concentrated environment and individual learning.
I live in the Adelaide Metro area, North Eastern suburbs. I am able to tutor online or meet at public libraries and universities, whichever is more suitable for you! I will do my best to accommodate to whatever you need in terms of location, as I have a valid South Australian drivers licence. I am available for tutoring most days in the week as I study and have flexibility, so I am willing to do my very best to accommodate you into my schedule.
