Hi there, thanks for spending the time to check out my profile!
My name is Dave and I graduated from Wesley College Melbourne in 2019, completing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and receiving a total score of 43 (ATAR 99.60). I received Dux awards in IB Mathematics Higher Level, Chemistry, and Chinese B. I am a first-year university student studying at Cornell University in the United States, in the College of Engineering, as a prospective Chemical Engineering major.
I have accumulated over 120+ tutoring hours, both in-person and online, mostly helping students with STEM subjects and the SAT, an American standardized college test.
Below are my six subjects and the corresponding scores I obtained:
Mathematics HL – 7
Chemistry HL – 7
Physics HL – 7
English A: Language & Literature SL – 6
Chinese B SL – 7
Economics SL – 7
TOK/EE – B/B (2 points)
I am fluent in Bahasa Indonesia, so I can help those learning Indonesian. I am also more than happy to tutor Junior to Middle school students as well.
I am very passionate about all my subjects and I believe that anyone can achieve their academic goals with the right guidance and resources. I consistently performed well at school in all my six IB subjects (and TOK), receiving no score lower than a 6 anytime.
Being a mentor to others has always been a passion for me, and I hope to continue helping others reach their maximum potentials and achieve their best results. I have experience in both formal and informal tutoring, including other opportunities such as coaching Junior debate teams, mentoring younger students in STEM workshops as well as providing academic assistance to Senior School students.
As a tutor, I can help with:
- Learning the curriculum
- Completing homework, projects, and assignments
- Preparing for major assessments
- Developing a personalized study routine
- *for IB students* Providing IB-specific advice regarding Internal Assessments, CAS, Extended Essay, and Theory of Knowledge
I want to help you as much as possible to reach your personal goals, so I am more than willing to provide support outside our allocated hours. I am quite active on email and social media, so I can offer you extra help every day, whether that be regarding specific content or general study advice. For IB students, I am willing to give you my notes and resources, as well as show you the various tasks that I did for the IB, including my EE, TOK Essay, and TOK Presentation and IA documents.
I understand that different students are at different levels and learn differently, and because of that, I will make sure to accommodate my teaching style to how you learn best.
Moreover, if you are interested in applying to US colleges, I can assist you in studying for the SAT and Subject Tests, review your essays, and guide you through the application process. Below are some relevant stats of mine:

Lastly, I hold a valid Working with Children Check.

Very helpful for Indonesian pronunciation and knows where to find useful resources. Helped me find some sites that I use for regular revision and is a great help.
Through tutorial sessions with Dave, I have been able to consolidate the topics we have learnt in school, while also gaining a clear understanding of the concepts I have not been able to understand in class with my teacher. The tutorial sessions have been extremely beneficial and Dave is a very approachable person which has allowed me to ask more questions about concepts I do not understand.
