Hi everyone. My name is Ariel. I am a 29 year old university student who has been tutoring for the last four years. I graduated school in 2007 with an enter of 96.95. Straight out of high school I began an Arts degree at the University of Melbourne. I completed this degree with a major in English Literature and a minor in French. I took a few years off to work and travel and then I returned to study. Five years ago I started a Bachelor of Engineering at Monash University. I have specialised in Mechanical Engineering and I am in my final year of study. I plan to continue with my studies next year by undertaking a Masters of Environmental Engineering.
Due to my diverse studies, I offer tutoring in both humanities and sciences with up to year 12 level in English, Literature, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. I offer group tutoring as well as one on one and am happy to tutor more than one subject in a given session.
I have tutored for a number of years now with different companies and through my experience I have learnt that the most important thing that I can do is to provide support and encouragement to students while enabling them to see their studies as less of a chore and more of an opportunity for interest, curiosity and engagement. My job is not to teach the course in the same manner that your teachers may have, but to shine new light on old material, working with a student to approach subjects in a way that builds self-confidence, self-reliance and, ideally, a passion for learning. My number one objective is to ensure that you enjoy the tutoring session and that I can convince you that study can be fun and can be satisfying.
MY LOCATION, COSTS AND AVAILABILITY!
I am based in Fairfield. I travel almost exclusively by bike and therefore I am mobile within about a 10km radius. So I offer tutoring within an area encircled by the suburbs: Preston, Heidelberg, Bulleen, Balwyn, Hawthorn, Richmond, Carlton, Brunswick and Coburg. This area includes: Brunswick, Fitzroy, Collingwood, Northcote and Kew. I am happy to tutor either at your house or at a local library.
I charge $45 per hour for primary school students, $50 per hour for secondary students, $55 per hour for VCE or IB students. I also have a decreasing rate for groups, decreasing by $10 per student until it caps at $30 per hour per student.
I am available weeknights from 4pm till 10pm and weekends from 10am to 5pm. However I am perfectly happy to be flexible upon discussion.
I generally offer the first tutoring session at half price as this will give us an opportunity to meet, discuss your objectives and determine whether you are comfortable and happy working with me.
If you have any further questions don’t hesitate to ask. I’m happy to take calls or respond to emails at any time.
Angus is only on his second lesson with Ariel and so far she has been prompt – very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. She seems to be building a good rapport with Angus and he is certainly finding it very helpful. Would be happy to recommend Ariel as a Tutor.
I believe if it weren’t for her help, I wouldn’t have been able to do as well in my subject as I am doing currently. In just two classes, I was able to understand a lot more of the concepts of my subject than I ever could have by myself. I believe with her help, my grades will definitely go up. She explains in a way that is easy to comprehend and also makes the subject interesting.
My daughter Elanie had her first lesson with Ariel and it went really well. We are going to continue as Ariel is very professional, knowledgeable and Elanie got along very well with her.
