“I strive to not only provide students with the resources, techniques, and support to reach their VCE goals but to instil a love of learning and a passion that will consequently ensure success.”
Hey! My name is Ambra and I live in Melbourne. You can often find me making a pun, talking about my dog, and engaging in social justice or literary discourse. At times, VCE can be a strenuous journey but also an opportunity for flourishing, and I’m looking forward to providing students with (incredibly colour-coded!) support and tutoring.
I completed VCE in 2015 with an ATAR of 98.2. This included a raw study score of 44 in Italian, 43 in literature, and 39 in English. These subjects, in particular, were incredibly rewarding and I’m so excited to share my passion for them with others so that they too achieve positive results. After my gap year, I will be undertaking a double degree (Law/Arts) at Monash University and can’t wait to get back into learning!
I take mental health and wellbeing very seriously and thus have completed a Mental Health First Aid certificate and attended numerous workshops on positive psychology, sleep, and depression and anxiety in adolescents. VCE can be an extremely stressful time for many students and managing this stress will result in a higher quality of work and most importantly a happier person.
I have been attending Italian adult classes since 2010 at CIS in Carlton and in 2012, I spent six months in Italy on a cultural exchange, developing my language abilities and accent, and immersing myself in the culture. On return, I completed my international CILS B2 certificate. I completed year 12 Italian at VSL in Glen Waverly, under the guidance of an amazing teacher. I have a very strong connection to the Italian cultural and language, as my family origins are all based in Italy, and thus I am always aspiring to improve my abilities.
I am able to provide:
Oral practise and pronunciation
Extensive grammar (from verb tenses and relative pronouns to conjunctions)
Text type structures and the necessary breadth and depth of written ideas
Relevant and diverse vocabulary, highlighting the differences between informal and formal language
English, literature, and ESL:
My history of school debating, Mercy language competitions, creative writing, understanding the building blocks of syntax and grammar from LOTE (Italian, French, and Spanish), and one-on-one work with teachers all assisted me in achieving H and H+ during my year 12 assessment tasks. My aim is to teach students how to accomplish ‘flow’ in their writing, creating an evocative mix of necessary language elements that will wow VCAA!
I am able to provide:
In-depth work with the TEEL and ChILLS structures
Grammar and language devices
Creative context essay work
Practise exam corrections and feedback
Literary and character analyses
LOCATION, COSTS & AVAILABILITY
During 2017, I will be studying a double degree at Monash University and will also be working part time. If you live within Moonee Valley area and easily accessed via public transport, I am happy to come to you; if not this will unfortunately not be an option, due to time and transport constraints. The State Library will be a great place that is easily accessible for lessons and I am based in Strathmore, thus am happy to conduct lessons at my own home as well.
I charge $42 for one-on-one tutoring and $37 for Skype sessions. Otherwise, if group sessions are a better arrangement, I charge $22 per person.
Thank you for visiting my profile, I look forward to helping you navigate your way through VCE! ☺
