Hi there, thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. I understand that for some, English can be a bit of a headache, a compulsory subject that you have to do. However, for others, as well as for myself, understanding the world through reading and finding an outlet for our creative impulses through writing is an enjoyable process. I hope that if you dislike or are disinterested in English, I can change your mind in this regard. Conversely, if you share my enthusiasm, I hope I could guide you to further your understanding and discover new and interesting ideas.
I studied the International Baccalaureate(IB) programme at Presbyterian Ladies’ College, Melbourne and graduated in 2016 with an ATAR of 97.60. In particular, I attained 6/7 in English A Literature despite coming from a English-second-language background. I understand that classical literature has a profound influence on the English canon, therefore to further my understanding of English literature and to challenge myself, I studied Latin and attained a 6/7.
I have had 6 months of experience of tutoring and have worked consistently with 11 students whose command of English ranges from rudimentary to excellent. I have developed a sound understanding of the VCE curriculum and developed a methodical way of teaching. I emphasize student participation in class and a discussion-based and I always encourage independent thinking and self-expression.
I am available for tutoring literature, English and EAL from year7-12. I only charge $40 per hour and I am available both online and in-person. I also have working with children check.
