About Tom

Hi Guys! My name is Tom and I am a recent VCE graduate (2016) who acquired an ATAR of 97.35.

As a tutor, I am now committed to helping my students to excel in VCE through my central philosophy: making the course fit you, not the other way around!

About Me:

I graduated from University High School in 2016. I duxed Further Maths for my year, scoring a raw 49 study score. In Maths Methods I received a scaled 44 study score and in Specialist Maths I received a scaled study score of 46. As I completed Further Maths, Specialist Maths and Maths Methods in 2016, I am up to date on the new study designs for these subjects. I am now studying at the University of Melbourne, completing a Bachelor of Science.

My Teaching style:

I am dedicated to working with students an d learning where their strengths and weaknesses lie, as I believe harnessing an individual’s own learning style is the key to excellent results in VCE. Whether it be cue cards, memory tests, mind maps or course summaries, there is always a strategy that will help you succeed. I’m passionate about finding the best approach for you!

Further Maths

Futher Maths is more than just a maths subject, therefore to succeed you need to know exactly what the examiners are looking for. After scoring a raw 49, I can provide a wealth of tips and tricks, such as template answers and calculator shortcuts as well as a strong foundation in all areas of the subject.

I can also provide help with creating a bound reference with general solutions to commonly examined questions.

Maths Methods and Specialist Math

I am able to provide a comprehensive tuition of the tools required by these subjects, as well as understanding of when and how these tools are to be used throughout all areas of the courses. This is including the new statistics component added in the new Specialist study design. However, to really succeed in these subjects, you need to know exactly what the examiners are looking for. I can provide a wealth of tips and tricks, such as template answers, calculator shortcuts and notation conventions, allowing you to complete your SACs and exams timely and confidently.

I can also provide help with creating a bound reference with general solutions to commonly examined questions.

I live in Parkville and am happy to travel to your home /a library near you. I am often at Melbourne Uni, or the state library in the city, neither of which incur a travel fee.

He is really super at explaining concepts and formulas, especially if you don’t understand a particular theory or equation, he is great at explaining it in a different way, and will work with you until you understand.
