I believe that a good teacher can teach students understand concepts and help them to do homework but a GREAT teacher can show students how to learn so that they can achieve results even when the teacher is no longer there. Unlike many other tutors, whose teaching only have short term impact, I aim to have a life-long impact on my students by teaching them principles of success & the science of achievement beside course content!
From my observation after 8 years of tutoring experience, most students in V.C.E work hard, but it is actually what they work on that cause them to over-stress and under-perform i.e making beautiful note summaries; re-write textbook questions, chitchatting with friends, thinking that they are doing group discussion etc… . They don’t know what to focus on, they paddle like crazy in the sea of activities; doing all things that they can touch their hands-on, ended up being exhausted and give up altogether. V.C.E students don’t lack hard work, what they lack is clarity and focus!
In Mathematics study ( and in many other subjects), understanding the concept thoroughly and rinsing & repeating themselves with exam questions are the only few things that students should focus on to achieve outstanding results
One of the best examples is when I studied Probability at Melbourne University in 2014. With so much passion for Mathematics, I studied Probability day and night, putting my hand on all possible materials that I could found, I achieved 91 as a result. I was quite happy with my score until I learned that my friend, let’s call her Shania achieved 96. I was startled to know that she achieved this score while overloading, doing 5 subjects at Melbourne Uni and skipping Probability lectures every Friday ( while I attend all Probability lecture & even going to most of the consultation of the subjects). “How could it be possible,” I asked myself, ” how can she achieve more while doing less”. I asked her one day and it was painful for me to learn that while I studied much harder than Shania, she did 14 practice exams while I ( the overworked student) did only 7 practice exams of Probability and that is what makes the difference between our scores.
What will you receive under my tuition?
- Course notes that I personally written ( obviously ) with selective & modified questions from V.C.E exams paper for each topic that I teach. This is designed so that you can see finishing V.C.E Maths exams are possible for yourself
- Strategies to achieve greatly in other subjects. This is the results of me talking to many friends who achieved 50 raw score in subjects such as English, P.E, H.H.D, Physics & Chemistry etc, “success leaves clues” 🙂
- Unique and in-depth understanding of Mathematics. As a student who’s completed a University degree in Mathematics at Melbourne Uni, I understand Mathematics at a much deeper level than other V.C.E tutors. I can provide you with deep explanation and show you how to connect mathematical concepts together. This would make your understanding of Maths solid, allowing you to remember the concept & pattern for life!
