ABOUT ME

Hi there!

My name is Tahlia and I am a graduate of the, in my humble opinion, very resilient Class of 2020. Throughout my high school career, I have consistently done well academically whilst also being able to maintain an extensive list of extra-curricular activities. Despite the challenges of my final year of school, I was able to maintain the demanding leadership position of being Social Justice Captain and achieving an ATAR of 97.25. The best part of my HSC is that it allowed me to develop a passion for the subjects that I studied, and it’s this passion that I want to share with my students through tutoring.

I am currently studying in France completing a dual degree with the University of Sciences Po, ranked second in the world for political sciences, and the University of Sydney. At Sciences Po, I am studying a bachelor of arts specialising in political sciences related to North America and Europe.

I have been tutoring for the past year in subjects including maths, english and HSC history. I have tutored students from Year 4 up to Year 12 and was also the debating coach for a Year 7 team.

For me, tutoring is not only about what I can give to my students, but also what they give back to me. I am always so excited to hear new ideas about subjects that I love and to see how students interpret what they’re learning about. It makes me incredibly happy to see someone’s face light up because they finally understand a concept that was difficult to grasp, and when they engage in a rich discussion full of great ideas. To achieve this, I prioritise understanding their learning needs whilst also encouraging them to think critically so they can engage with the content. I want to give my students the confidence they need to believe in their academic abilities, but also the skills of being able to balance academic life with social activities as well. I will always priorities the mental health of my students and encourage them to build habits to make their schooling more manageable.

Thank you for reading, and I hope to hear from you soon!
