ABOUT ME

Hi there!

My name is Tahlia and I am a 2020 HSC high school graduate. For my HSC, I received a 97.25 making me a high achiever. I received Band 6’s in 9 units of study and a high Band 5 in 2 units of study. Most notably, I received a 94 in English Extension and 48 in English Extension I. I have consistently received high marks throughout my high school career whilst also engaging in a variety of extra curricular a and leadership opportunities, being the Social Justice Captain for our school in my final year of high school.

For University, I have been accepted into a Bachelor of Arts through a highly competitive dual degree program which will see me study at both the University of Sydney and Sciences Po in France, with a focus on political sciences relating to Europe and North America.

I have previously done some casual work tutoring primary school students and also teaching piano to smaller kids. During high school, I co-hosted our school’s primary school debating program which taught primary school students how to get involved in debating and also how to debate. At the moment, I am currently coaching a Year 7 debating team.

With my students, I prefer to work to their learning needs so that they are able to get the most out of the session. I encourage them to think critically and on their own to engage with the content. I find that this helps students retain content a lot better and also apply the skills they learn across multiple subjects.

I have previously taught young kids through debating coaching and primary school debating workshops. I have also taught some primary school students piano and alongside occasional tutoring.

I am quite flexible with my working hours and availability, especially after school hours. I would prefer to meet in a public place for the first few sessions and then discuss further options.

My tutoring depends on the students’ individual needs and what learning style works for them. I believe that working with the students needs is what works best for their learning.

Thank you for reading and I hope to hear from you soon!

Tahlia
