Hi! Thanks for taking your time to read my profile.
I was an aerospace engineer for over two decades, and during eight years of this time I lectured within an aerospace engineering degree and also completed a PhD.
I mainly worked in Victoria but now I have moved back home to Tasmania, where I am planning to teach senior high school maths and science.
I am in my second year of a Master of Teaching at UTas and I am really enjoying it!
I have also written and published a children’s book and am I the process of writing my second. The aim of my books is to bring the wonder and excitement of discovering the world around us to younger students (ages 0-9). My first book is “There’s Magic in the Sky!”, it explains the reason why auroras occur using rhyming language and vivid illustrations. My second book (in progress) is “Eight Aussie Spidernauts” and this one will tell the true story of how a group of students from Glen Waverley Secondary College sent some Australian spiders into orbit on board a space shuttle. I was lucky to be their science research mentor for the project, and have many fond memories of the experience.
MY TEACHING STYLE
Personally I find it really satisfying to see my students grow and emerge from the “I can’t do this” mentality to achieve excellent results.
I have also found that I have a knack for diagnosing the knowledge gaps and misconceptions that sometimes hold students back. I really believe that identifying and resolving these issues is the key to success.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
MY LOCATION, COSTS AND AVAILABILITY!
Although I am soon to be a fully qualified high school mathematics and science teacher, for now I have chosen to focus on mathematics as I wish to build an extensive set of resources to assist my students.
I am available to all Australian students online, either via Skype or we can discuss your online platform of choice
I am also available for face to face tutoring within the Hobart area.
I charge the standard rate of $60/hour
