My name is Sayuree, I am a current graduate from Deakin University, having just completed my Master of Teaching (Primary and Secondary education), waiting for the Teacher registration in Victoria and since 2018, I am working as a Casual Relief Teacher Assistant in both government and non-government schools. In addition, tutoring Mathematics for Primary and Middle school children both online and in-person. Even though I have graduated as a dance / performing arts teacher, based on my BSc (Hons) Information Technology, I have two and a half years of experience in working as a secondary high school IT teacher in Sri Lanka holding a strong record of student achievement and growth in my teaching which proving the capability of teaching IT from primary levels to VCE. In addition, as a candidate coming from an Asian country, I have also a strong capability in teaching Mathematics to year 7 to 10, adapting Asian teaching and learning strategies matching with Australian setting.
I am a firm believer in the development of strong, independent, and creative young learners. In my teaching, I utilise a vast range of current practices to promote excellence and aim to build tenacity in a supportive classroom environment. Each of the environments that I work in follow clear and consistent child safety and well-being standards, fostering the safe development of the whole student. I believe that I am an effective teacher because of the relationships I develop with my students. At all times I strive to be compassionate, respectful, and understanding of my students. I am fully aware of the importance of treating each student as an individual and tailoring my lesson plans to ensure all students are engaged and that my classes meet the needs of all students so that they are able to fulfill their potential. Building genuine relationships and taking an interest in students’ lives is fundamental to ensuring each student feels valued and is assisted to achieve his/her absolute best.
