ABOUT ME

I graduated from Trinity College in Perth WA in 2006 with a TEE score of 90 including chemistry and physics as TEE subjects. Upon graduating I was accepted into the Engineering/Commerce course at the University of Western Australia. I chose Engineering as my strengths were in science and maths in school. After two years studying part time at UWA I decided to transfer to Curtin University to study Town Planning with an aspiration to become an Urban Designer. Whilst studying Town Planning I was working casually as a support worker and found that I really enjoyed working with people. This led me to transfer to Occupational Therapy at Curtin University, graduating in 2014. I then worked in mental health as an Occupational Therapist for two years in Victoria. In this role I worked with clients with mental illnesses and intellectual disabilities to build independent living skills. Since then I have worked as a relief teacher assistant at various schools in Perth for students with disabilities at both the high school level and primary school level.

I tutor because am passionate about assisting students to reach their potential and achieve their learning goals. I aim to not only assist students in understanding and completing learning tasks but also to support the student in developing their confidence and desire to learn.

I am patient meaning I am able to work at the students pace and I am able to adapt to the needs of the student.

I have a strong academic background meaning I have a good understanding of learning tasks the students need to complete.

I have experience working with clients in my occupational therapy work and teacher assistant work which means I have good ability to interact with students and engage them in learning tasks.

I have a positive ‘can do’ attitude meaning I am able to role model a positive attitude towards learning and I am able to motivate students to achieve in their learning.
