Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. My name is Penny and I am a VCE English and VCE Legal Studies Tutor. I live in the Oakleigh area and in my spare time I am an avid reader, debater and thoroughly enjoy the company of my family and friends.
Qualifications and Experience:
I graduated from Oakleigh Grammar in 2012 with an ATAR of 94.55 (DUX of 2012) and with a study score of 41 in English and 42 in Legal Studies. I have recently graduated from my Arts degree and have been admitted into Melbourne Law Schools Juris Doctor Graduate Law Program/Course.
I have been tutoring students in VCE English 1/2 and 3/4 and VCE Legal Studies 3/4 for three years now. Throughout my experience as a tutor, I strive to ensure that my students not only remain fully engaged in the course content, but I also ensure that each student can comprehend, analyse and confidently re-articulate all aspects of the English and Legal Studies curriculum.
I truly have a passion for teaching and reinforcing the techniques students can develop in English as well as the valuable knowledge students can acquire in Legal Studies, which has been instrumental to the learning process for my students.
In addition, through an open channel of communication and trust, I am able to deconstruct students’ weaknesses in a particular topic, address these issues and build a confident set of skills in an interactive, fun, yet practical manner.
Many Legal Studies students have found the content to be quite overwhelming. My aim is to logically and carefully pull apart the areas of study and passionately re-engage students with the subject so as to truly reach their potential.
I am familiar with the current curriculum for Units 1/2 and Units 3/4 English and I have a highly specialised knowledge in Units 3/4 Legal Studies, with a sound familiarity of Units 1/2 Legal Studies.
With regards to VCE English, I have studied ‘A Christmas Carol’, ‘Twelve Angry Men’, ‘The Rug-Maker of Mazar-e Sharif’, ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’, ‘Macbeth’, ‘Things We Didn’t See Coming’ and ‘A Farewell to Arms’.
In my sessions I cover:
