Greetings overachievers… and parents! Thanks for taking the time to consider my tuition. If you’re reading this, then you’ve already put yourself one step ahead of the pack in consciously choosing to take success into your own hands.
My name is Noah, and I’m a first-year Arts student at the University of Melbourne, majoring in French and Politics. For over a year now I’ve been tutoring English and French for years nine and ten. Having recently completed the VCE with an ATAR of 98.50, I’m expanding my services to VCE students.
About me & qualifications-
Last year, I topped the English cohort at the Geelong College with a score of 49. I also received 47 in French and 43 in Ancient History. I am keen to impart my knowledge to students who want to do well in these subjects. In the past, I have tutored both high achieving students, as well as those struggling with subject matter. What matters to me is not the prior academic success of a student, but their willingness to improve.
In my experience, the teachers who live for their subject are the ones who are best able to cultivate that same enthusiasm in their students. I have a genuine love of all three of these subjects. My favourite author is P.G. Wodehouse and I am studying French and Ancient History as part of my degree.
I can show you what markers look for in awarding the top marks, as well as the study skills and work ethic required to stay sane while giving it your all. Bringing the same drive to my tutoring as I have to my studies, my goal is to furnish the student with a complete and confident understanding of their subject.
I am familiar with the current VCE curricula for both year 11 and 12 in English and French, as well as the year 12 curriculum for Ancient History. Additionally, my services are available for years 9 and 10 in English, French and Historical Writing techniques.
Location, Availability & Costs-
I live in Parkville, and I am available on weekdays in the afternoon and evening. I am happy to find a time and location which works well for both of us.
Part of my tuition includes access to my phone number and email. Students are welcome to come to me with queries or essays to correct at any time. Students also have access to resources I develop specifically for their use. Having recently completed VCE, I am acutely aware of the fact that students have a knack for blowing things out of proportion. ‘Calm down’ and ‘deep breath’ reminders are included in my fee.
I charge only $50/hr, with the first lesson at half price. Should travel time become a significant factor, a $10 dollar surcharge will apply, but given my proximity to the city and inner suburbs, this generally shouldn’t come into play.
