Caring and compassionate tutor with 3 years of experience in teaching K-12 English and Mathematics in a one-to-one environment, and 1 year of experience as a study coach. Passionate about working with students to develop their confidence through encouragement, and by providing clarity on difficult and complex ideas. Very practical, organised and efficient at creating individualised study plans, quizzes, and topic breakdowns to prepare students for exams and assignments.

My teaching style is heavily focused on making complex ideas seem simple and logical, progressing from the fundamental rules and principles to their implications and consequences. By continually returning to the basics, and understanding what the question is asking, I believe that all complex questions can be reduced to simple explanations.

As a tutor, I am very patient and understanding, with a drive to push students to their appropriate edge, regardless of where they are at. I do this by creating supplementary material and homework to both reinforce key knowledge and challenge their existing knowledge.

I also believe in structure, and my lessons go like this. In a 1 hour lesson, 10-15mins review of last weeks homework, 15 mins explaining a new concept (so that it is easily digestible and easy to understand), the rest of the lesson on practice questions. This usually changes to all practice/exam questions during exams so students know all the tips and tricks for different questions.

As a study coach, I also have experience with optimal strategies for exam preparation, motivation, time management, technology distractions, and subject specific strategy techniques.
