Why hello there!
Welcome to my profile! Firstly, I would like to thank you for approaching LearnMate tutors, and ultimately seeing what I have to offer in the field of Psychology.
My name is Morgan, and I am a recent graduate student and former School Captain from Dromana College. My hobbies include surfing, surf life saving, playing guitar and many other sports. I am from the Mornington Peninsula, and have my licence and car so that I can meet at libraries and other common meeting places with my students, but Skype sessions are also commonly offered if this is a more preferable option for you.
Having recently completed my schooling in 2014, I understand how VCE can be an emotional, yet enjoyable period for students. Personally, I found my VCE experience to be both challenging and exciting at the same time, and therefore, I know how this journey through your final years at high school can be stressful and frustrating at times, but also personally rewarding. I truly believe that passion and enjoyment are two key factors that contribute to the success of completing your VCE. Often, a deeper understanding of a particular subject can be attributed to how much you enjoy that subject as a whole. Ultimately, these are the concepts that I explored throughout my final years of high school, that enabled me to attain an ATAR of 89.4. I have an absolute passion for Psychology, which contributed to my study score of 41. Whilst I find psychology to be a very content-heavy subject, I attribute my success to the many study techniques that I employed that enabled me to retain this content – study techniques that I will be sure to pass on to my students. Ultimately, it is my love for the subject of Psychology that has driven me to continue this type of study at a tertiary level.
Even if Psychology is not your “thing”, but you are still determined to achieve your goal of attaining a particular study score, I believe that together we can find other cues that trigger your motivation to study.
I want my students to get the most that they possibly can out of my tutoring service, so I am very flexible in terms of my teaching methods and catering for all learning styles – visual, auditory and kinaesthetic. No learning experience is the same, just as no tutoring experience is the same, and altering my teaching methods to suit your preferred learning style is my utmost priority.
I completely understand the frustration of sitting at your desk at home, being stuck on a question and feeling like you have no one to go to for direction, but please note, that I am more than happy to answer any questions or queries even when I am not with you! My students can feel confident in contacting me with anything and everything Psychology. I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can!
In addition, I will certainly provide VCE lecturer’s notes, my own personal notes as well as any other recourse that I have used during year twelve. My students can have the confidence in knowing that these are the recourses that I utilized during my study of year twelve psychology and thus, attributed my success. One of my main focuses when it comes to exam preparation involves the employment of techniques that enables the student to read a question, work out the key points the examiner is looking for, and respond accordingly using appropriate language and key words addressed in the question. There is much to be gained from remembering 100% of all the subject content, but often this is worthless if you don’t know how to correctly answer the question.
Currently, my availability is Tuesday afternoons, Thursday and Friday afternoons/night. If my availability doesn’t suit your preferred times, please let me know! I will do my best to work with you to arrange another time.
Overall, I would describe myself as an enthusiastic and motivated person who is determined to help others achieve a common goal. I feel that developing a confident and trustworthy relationship with my students is one of the most important aspects of the tutoring experience itself, so I like spending the time to get to know my students. There is no doubt that there is a lot to learn in the study of Psychology, but my tutoring approach involves incorporating interactive teaching methods to all aspects of the curriculum, so that my students can walk into their Psychology exam with confidence.
My charges are only $40 per hour.
Again, thank you for taking the time to consider my Psychology tutoring service, and hopefully I can meet up with you in the future!
