Looking forward to meeting some of you very soon.
My name is Michele and I am a tutor who specialises in all areas related to English and Writing. I have a PhD ( English) from UWA.
Reading has been a passion which probably led me on this path.
It took a while to get there. I did a BA(hons) at UWA in English and Philosophy. I also have a Graduate Diploma in Communications and Cultural Studies in Creative Writing (dis) from Curtin University.
The study of creative writing and being the writer was fantastic. It opened me up to poetry because I could write it , I read it differently.
Reading and Writing can be linked in interesting and productive ways.
I also have a Diploma of Teaching (Primary) from ECU.
I received an Australian Postgraduate Research Award ( APRA) from both Murdoch and UWA. It’s a three year award which pays you and all your HECS fees. I also received the State School Teachers’ Union Award for the Best Academic Results in Final Year of my Teaching Diploma
My study scores equivalent to WACE are, overall, 81%. It had a different name when I studied. My subject scores: English 1;English Literature 2; Human Biology 4.
I tutor because I find I learnt best in an environment that was similar to tutoring. It inspired me to improve. I enjoy the interaction and learning from students. I love their enthusiasm, and understand their frustrations.
I like to adapt the methods I use to the student and change that whenever necessary to ensure the student is learning well and feels like they are progressing.
I love feedback and encourage it in ways that suit the student. I tailor my lessons to each student or group to maximise the learning experience.
I have a special interest in remedial work, or helping with special difficulties to build confidence.
There are a number of ways I like to do this: You can choose what suits you—they are fun and enjoyable.
Again, hope to meet you soon and learn together.
My best wishes and thanks for reading
