Hi there, thanks for taking the time to read my profile.
I recently graduated high school with an OP 2, with the subjects of art (VHA 10), study of society (VHA 9), ancient history (VHA 10), and modern history (VHA 9) as my four electives. I also tutor English (VHA 5). I’ve since developed a bit of a passion for each of these areas, and find it incredibly fulfilling to help others develop an interest in them also. I’m currently enjoying a gap year, but as soon as February rolls around, I’m headed off to UQ to begin a Bachelor of Advanced Humanities, majoring in ancient history. I love to learn, and as a result, I find the process of tutoring to be rewarding not only for the student, but for myself.
As far as I can understand it, the best way to get high scores in any subject is to find something about it that you are interested in. Once this is established, focus and understanding follow. This is the philosophy I hope I would be able to bring to the table. Furthermore, it is incredibly difficult to learn in a high-stress environment, and in order for a student to truly flourish, mistakes must be embraced and celebrated.
My top priority is, of course, to assist students by ensuring that they cater to the curriculum, but further than that, I’m interested in helping them expand past this. I’d like to think that I am pretty laid back, friendly, and approachable to those that I am teaching, and it is important to me that the student is comfortable.
I provide students with the skills required to effectively break down a task/subject to ensure that the criteria is met, and will also engage in discussion with them as to how they might be able to get themselves interested in the task.
I believe that a much more holistic approach is necessary to learning than that which schools provide. I would hope that I am able to adapt to best fit a student’s needs, and capable of assessing their strengths and weaknesses so I can see where they most need assistance.
I am also able to provide phone and email support 7 days a week, if a student needs a little more guidance regarding a particular task, assignment, etc. I’m pretty flexible with my time schedule, and will do my best to suit a client’s needs.
