Hello, thank-you for viewing my profile!
In 2017, I graduated from St Patrick’s College (Prospect) with an ATAR of 96.60. The following is a list of the subjects I tutor with the scores I received in 2016/2017 for them: Chemistry (22.5), Physics (21.4), Physical Sciences (18.2), Mathematics Methods (17.1) and General Mathematics (19.0). Currently, I am enrolled in a Bachelor of Science with Honours (Catalyst Program) at UTAS, majoring in chemistry and minoring in physics. Suffice to say, I deal with components of the subjects I tutor daily.
I believe the grade-centric nature of our educational system may cause many students to focus on the wrong aspects of their secondary education and develop unnecessary negativity. The only real endeavour in education is the pursuit of understanding, grades being an attempt to quantify how much students understand. With this said, my primary goal as a tutor is to increase understanding… as well as ATAR scores.
How do I hope to achieve this?
By providing an engaging environment and catering to each student’s learning style. I offer resources, self-management tips, and most importantly affirmation. Trying to better yourself, regardless of the outcome, is never a waste of time; and the limiting factor for many people is simply self-confidence.
Why do I tutor?
Throughout my life, I have seen sparks of understanding erupt into infernos of curiosity; I have seen self-doubt turn benign and change its label to self-confidence; I have seen knowledge empowering people and it is spectacular process to be a part of, or even just see.
