Hi there, my name is Joseph. Thank you for visiting my profile.
I am a final-year PhD student in English Literature at the University of Melbourne. I have over 10 years’ worth of experience and excellence with these subjects, both at high school and advanced university level. I was Dux of my high school, received a number of scholarships to university, and took a triple-major undergraduate degree with first-class honours. As someone who has made the link between high school and university study, I have an appreciation for the greater purpose of literary study and its transferrable skills. I have finely-tuned analytical and close-reading skills, as well as wide contextual knowledge of key aspects in the study of English Literature. I am widely-read and familiar with the VCE curriculum.
I want to help you get the most out of VCE English and English Literature. With my help we can work towards your VCE goals and develop your confidence and enthusiasm for such fulfilling and dynamic subjects. I look forward to seeing your eyes light up as we learn together. I offer a passionate, enthusiastic, and reliable tutoring experience. I place great worth in academic achievement, and love seeing the people I help reach their goals.
Studying English or English Literature is about skills as much as content, and with my expertise you will engage comprehensively with your chosen texts as well as learn how to persuasively structure fluent and compelling written responses. Achieving in English or English Literature means engaging with your material and learning to think creatively and curiously, not just remembering what your teacher told you. I can help you with this, laying strong foundations to help you tackle whatever the exam might bring.

I live in the Ormond/Carnegie area. As of 2018 I am only offering lessons at my home. This allows me to fit more students in, lower prices, and remove travel fees. Parents are always welcome to sit in on lessons in my designated tuition room.
Ormond and Carnegie stations are nearby, and the 625, 626, and 630 buses stop very near.
I have a valid Working with Children check
I am available most weekdays, depending on my other commitments. I am flexible – so let me know your schedule and we will work something out.
My flat rate is only $50 an hour – and the first-lesson is half-price! This rate includes additional support in the form of email/phone queries, marking, timely feedback, and access to Google Drive resources that I personally tailor for my students.
Group lessons are available at a discounted rate of $45 per person.
I hope to hear from you soon!
Organized in every lesson with additional useful material to help students!
We lost our tutor suddenly – 30 days before final VCE English exams. Joseph took Ryan in last minute. He was very helpful, thorough, & explains well. I highly recommend Joseph- he’s one of the best tutor we had.
Joseph was absolutely fantastic. If it wasn\'t for Joseph my son Oliver would have achieved a lower ATAR and would not have been able to pursue his preferred tertiary options.
Joseph you are a brilliant tutor and I look forward to you assisting my two daughters Chelsea and Imogen in 2018 & 2019(20)
