Hi, thanks for checking out my profile!
I am a current Bachelor of Arts student at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Linguistics and Politics & International Studies. In 2017 I graduated from All Hallows’ School in Brisbane with an OP 3 (equivalent to an ATAR 97.00), with excellent results in English, Ancient History, Legal Studies and Religion & Ethics Studies, after which I did a year of studying abroad in Argentina. In my first year of undergraduate study I have received High Distinctions (H1) in multiple humanities-discipline subjects, including Australian Politics and Studies of Power.
Though I love humanities subjects, of course I understand that they can be challenging. However, I feel that every student has the potential to excel given the right guidance and encouragement. As a tutor, I strongly believe in helping students learn for themselves, rather than reteaching material they have already learnt in class, so I like to focus on developing communication and argumentative skills that students will be able to apply in many different contexts. I’m also more than happy to help any ESL students who would like to work on general academic English skills.
My priority is always making sure that my students are comfortable in their understanding of their curriculum and assessment pieces, and in order to achieve this I will provide a variety of resources for each student, based on their needs. As well as weekly meetings, depending on what the student needs and requests, this might include help with proofreading work outside session times, assisting the student in putting together a revision plan for assessments, creating exercises based on what skills the student would like to improve. I’m also happy to help over email or phone throughout the week, if needed.
I also hold a valid Working With Children Card.
Thank you for reading, and I hope to hear from you soon!
