Hello! My name is David and I am a Masters of Teaching (Secondary) student at the University of Melbourne. I completed my International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in 2012, achieving an ATAR of 99.35 and top scores (7/7) in English, Psychology, Biology, and Theatre. With four years of VCE and IB tutoring and teaching experience across both Melbourne and China, you can trust that I have all the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to inspire outstanding results and a passion for learning, as I have done for countless students already. Thank you for looking at my profile!
ABOUT ME & QUALIFICATIONS
“David’s incredible energy, passion and commitment did wonders for my son’s confidence and academic achievements in English.” – Parent of Student (2015)
I was Dux of English and Theatre at my school for achieving the highest subject results across my year level. I also earned a Certificate of Distinction for achieving Full Marks in English, Psychology, Biology, Theatre and my Extended Essay in Psychology. Due to my ATAR of 99.35, I was awarded a Dean’s Scholarship to study the Bachelor of Arts Scholars Program at Monash University.
While at Monash, I received five Dean’s Recognition Awards for consistent High Distinctions in Chinese, Literature, Theatre and Psychology, as well as the Award for the Highest Literature Results across First-Year Students in 2013. I graduated in 2015 with Majors in Chinese and Theatre, and a minor in Literature (GPA: 3.773, WAM: 83.132).
In 2016, I won a scholarship to study an Advanced Chinese Language Training Program at Nanjing University in China for one year. I was President of the Australia-China Youth Association in Nanjing, and achieved HSK Level 5 (Chinese Listening, Reading and Writing Test) and HSKK Advanced Level (Chinese Speaking Test).
Unlike most tutors, I have worked as a professional Theatre in Education Performer. I am a huge advocate of the critical role that engagement and passion play in learning. With my strong theatre and performance background, I always strive to make the learning experience as engaging and rewarding as possible.
My greatest passions in life are teaching and performing, and above all – helping others to achieve their personal best. We all have within us the potential to succeed, and sometimes it just takes the right teacher to unlock this, and then the possibilities are endless!

I am available to tutor at any time on the weekend or on weekday evenings, with a preference for Mondays or Tuesdays when I can start earlier.
