Hi there, thanks so much for considering me as your tutor!
I am friendly, patient and dedicated. I gain great pleasure from the elegance of the English language, and hold a genuine desire to help people whenever the opportunity arises.
Goals as Your Tutor
I am currently thriving at Melbourne University in my Arts degree, and I attribute this largely to the sincere love of learning I cultivated during high school. Not to imply studying is not, at times, difficult and stressful (though, aren’t all the most worthwhile things in life at some point?), but I have found, through proper support, open dialogues and engaging activities the learning process can transform into something not only rewarding, but authentically enjoyable. I aim to imbue this sense of enthusiasm onto my students, not only so they can achieve the marks they desire, but so they can keep learning and growing long after final exams!
My ultimate goal as a tutor is to encourage confidence in one’s own thoughts and then, to provide the tools to effectively translate these thoughts to others. This translation occurs through comprehension of the technical aspects of the subject, such as: appropriate essay structure, utilisation of correct terminology and controlled and effective use of language. I understand that everyone learns differently, thus I endeavour to tailor the learning experience to the individual student rather than using a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach.
I am available via email and text 7 days per week if any additional help is required between sessions; I provide as much support as necessary to see my students perform to the peak of their abilities, and receive the results they want.
I studied at Helensvale State High School in Queensland, receiving an OP 1 (equivalent to a 99+ ATAR). I also scored a 1 in both English field positions (which translates to VCE study scores of 45+), and the subject prize for both English and Modern History at my school. Despite my QLD schooling, I have familiarised myself with the VCE process and curriculum for English and English Literature, and feel fully confident in my ability to tutor students on their VCE paths.
Additionally, I hold a valid Working with Children Check.
