Hello, and thanks for considering me a potential tutor! I look forward to working with your student to get them the best possible results in these potentially quite tricky subjects.
I am a graduate of Monash University with an Undergraduate Science degree, majoring in Chemistry with minor sequences in Mathematics and Astrophysics, as well as a soon-to-graduate student of a Masters of Teaching (Secondary) degree, focused on educating General Sciences and Chemistry; I graduated high school back in 2012, and have been focused on a career of teaching ever since.
Having just moved over to Perth in October of 2020 to be with my fiancée, I was unable to apply for full time teaching positions, and therefore plan to use my ample time and Masters of Teaching for the benefit of students coming out of a very difficult year of remote teaching and disruptions. Having had experience this year teaching remotely to large groups of students for my placements, I can very strongly empathise with students who have been through the disruptions of 2020, and look forward to helping students get back up to the standards expected of them in the future years and well beyond!
It is my personal belief that there is a great deal of stigma around the Science and Maths subjects, and that a great deal of the issues with students having trouble with them is simply due to a lack of patient explanations, and a lack of confidence in students about their own skills. While they may not be for everyone, I firmly believe that STEM subjects can be achievable and enjoyable subjects for the majority of students, particularly those who have someone to guide them through the trickier sections and help them find the aspects of the subjects that they most enjoy, whatever those happen to be.
It is my passion to be that guiding hand, to help students find the beauty and wonder in science, and to help students break past their inhibitions about mathematics and show them that not only are maths subjects eminently achievable, but that there are areas of mathematics that are fascinating and interesting in their own way, as long as you have the fundamentals to understand them.
MY LOCATION, COSTS AND AVAILABILITY!
I am available for in-person tutoring sessions in most of metropolitan Perth, particularly the Eastern and Northern suburbs, and I am of course available for online tutoring as well if that better suits your needs or if you happen to live in Victoria.
My rate for in-person tutoring is $60 per hour, and $50 per hour for online tutoring (though for quality of assistance and value I would strongly recommend in-person tutoring if it’s possible for you).
Currently I am free all day, every day, though I think it likely in the next year that will change to being specific days or evenings.
Thank you again for considering me as a tutor, I hope that we can work together to achieve fantastic results, and I look forward to hearing from you!
