Hi there! Thank you for visiting my profile.
I’m Alan, and I graduated from Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School with an ATAR of 99.85, with study scores of 50 (50.75 scaled) in Mathematical Methods and 47 (54.4 scaled) in Specialist Mathematics, the dux of both subjects in my school. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce at University of Melbourne, majoring in Actuarial Studies.
I hope to help students to do their best and achieve their goals for their future studies, teaching through adapting to one’s preferred learning style. My goal is to be your friend, rather than another authoritative teacher! I know that VCE is truly difficult and daunting, so I aim to not only teach, but also give advice for dealing with the surmounting stress.
I am well-versed in the VCE mathematics curriculum and aware of the recent changes that have taken place. Most notably there is the addition of Statistical Inference for Maths Methods, and Hypothetical Testing in Specialists Maths. Through my studies in university, I have learnt and therefore am able to teach these new topics with ease, while most other tutors may simply skim or skip over it.
In my classes, I offer my skills in:
- SAC preparation
- Theory comprehension
- Bound book compilation
- Exam (external and VCAA) questions
- Problem solving techniques
- Avoidance of common mistakes/pitfalls
In addition to this, my service includes phone and email support 7 days a week, as I understand questions and queries cannot be covered in one session and may be forgotten.
