Hi, thanks for taking the time to view my profile!
I’m a first-year Chancellor’s Scholar at the University of Melbourne studying the Bachelor of Commerce (Actuarial Studies). I come from Western Australia so I sat the WACE exam instead of the VCE. Don’t worry – the maths courses in Western Australia are exactly the same as the VCE course you’re studying!
I achieved a 99.95 ATAR in Year 12, scoring 95% (98.3% scaled) in Mathematics: Specialist and 98% (100% scaled) in Mathematics: Methods.
My mathematical ability is well-recognised having been an Australian Mathematics Competition Prize winner for nine consecutive years.
What I can provide as a tutor
I’ve always had a passion for mathematics and for helping others in any way I could so it came as no surprise that I wanted to be a tutor. My goal, as a tutor, is to ensure that lessons are not only engaging but also tailored to your needs!
I believe that the key to effective learning is to understand concepts rather than simply being able to recall them. I am determined to assist you to achieve this deeper understanding in order to instil you with the confidence tackle any problem you face.
I also understand the need to be flexible in my tutoring approach. Of course, everyone is different – some enjoy maths while others don’t, and some teaching methods may suit some people but not others.
Having just graduated from high school, I fully understand the difficulty and stress that comes with the last few years of high school. I can provide support not only as a tutor, but also as a mentor and friend. Whether it is mathematics or something unrelated, I am dedicated to giving you the best advice to help you succeed.
LOCATION, COSTS & AVAILABILITY
I am available for private tutoring from Friday to Sunday for just $35/hour. I am also able to provide prompt support (via email/ phone) 7 days a week for any urgent questions or problems you may have.
Living on campus at the University of Melbourne, I am more than happy to have lessons at any of the university libraries.
I am also able to tutor at your place (although an additional $5-10 may be charged for transport expenses).
